Do you want to play Far Cry again? The next game in Ubisoft’s flagship license actually exists. And with any luck, we’ll officially hear about it soon.
Ubisoft has no intention of abandoning the Far Cry saga, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, the publisher organized a special online event, but was careful not to make any revelations about the future of the franchise. A silence that fuels more and more rumors. But once again Ubi has revealed the truth without necessarily meaning to. The license is back and an already scheduled meeting could be the venue for its announcement.
Far Cry 7 or another game in the saga is coming
According to insider Tom Henderson, Far Cry 7 is in development at Ubisoft. It’s not a huge surprise, but he’s added some details over the months. According to him, this episode would be very narrative and should take place on the fictional island of Kimsan, an area in the Yellow Sea near Korea. And apparently it was a strange cult or group called The Children of Truth. A community that has captured the main character’s family and must therefore free them one by one. But Ubisoft would break this policy by giving the player the option to save these protagonists in any order.
The other rumor about this Far Cry 7 is that it would offer an experience over time. Players would then have 72 hours, i.e. 24 real hours, to complete the mission. In the event of hiding in a safe place, the timer would be suspended. Unlike the other works, it would therefore be forbidden to wander around. A concept that could be surprising for the series if applied as described by Tom Henderson.
While we wait to learn more, job listings confirm the existence of a “Far Cry project” at Ubisoft Canada. Various profiles are being searched, but there is no concrete information to determine whether it is actually FC7. This is of course a high probability, but we must not forget that there are more games in development. If the rumors are to be believed, there would be a multi-style Escape From Tarkow software, Project Maverick, or perhaps even, in addition to these titles, a new Blood Dragon mode spin-off. When will the announcements be made? To see if all or at least part of it is true, check out Ubisoft Forward 2024, scheduled for June 10th.
