Enable temporary messages in a chat
Since a long time, WhatsApp allows you to send self-destructing photos. What happens is that most of the time we forget to press the “1” next to the send button.
WhatsApp has a function so that absolutely all the messages we send are deleted after a while. This is why I established this in work groups and with friends over a period of three months. To activate it, simply go to:
- WhatsApp > Settings > Privacy > Temporary messages
- Choose between 24 hours, 7 days and three months
From here, The content of new chats you start will have a predetermined duration. Additionally, you can choose old threads to do the same. This, yes, be careful because once messages are deleted, you will no longer be able to recover them. And this includes both text, photos and videos.
Don’t duplicate photos and only keep the ones you really want
If you want something intermediate, where you keep the entire chat with its photos and videos, but you don’t want to have duplicate files, that’s the best you can do. WhatsApp also has a feature in which it allows you to save the photos and videos in the app, but not in your camera roll from Apple.
- Go to WhatsApp > Settings > Chats
- Turn off Save to Photos option
In this way, they will not be saved in the Photos app images and videos contained in your WhatsApp chats. In this way, you will save space on your iPhone and also in iCloud by not having duplicate content.
