News culture Christian Bale like you’ve never seen him before! Batman star stars in monster movie
Christian Bale is once again experiencing an extraordinary physical transformation. This time the Batman interpreter is choosing a monstrous look for his next project.
A monstrous physical transformation
It’s been some time since we last saw Christian Bale in the cinema. The British actor’s latest film, The Pale Blue Eyes, was released directly to Netflix last year and some viewers were able to hear his voice in the English version of Hayao Miyazaki’s latest masterpiece, The Boy and the Heron. But don’t panic, the actor will soon return in a promising new feature film: The Bride, a reworked version of Bride of Frankenstein directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. For this new film, in which Christian Bale is set to play the famous monster, the actor has once again opted for a breathtaking physical transformation. Warner has just shared a first photo that not only offers a look at the creature, but also suggests the tone of this new work, which seems more in tune with the times.

A project to watch
Significantly poppier and more modern than previous versions of The Bride of Frankenstein, The Bride should still offer a story that remains reasonably faithful to the source material. In the heart of 1930s Chicago, Frankenstein leads a wandering life. When loneliness begins to weigh on him, he asks Doctor Euphronius to create a companion for him by reviving a murdered woman. Then the two monsters experience a wild and explosive love that attracts the attention of the police and a radical social movement.
Christian Bale is working for the first time with Maggie Gyllenhaal, the actress with whom he shared the poster for The Dark Knight. He is accompanied here by Jessie Buckley, Peter Sarsgaard, Penélope Cruz and Anette Bening. “The Bride” is scheduled to be released next year. A film to watch and not to be confused with the Netflix adaptation of Frankenstein directed by Guillermo del Toro, another particularly promising project due for release in 2025.
