In addition to the characteristics of a television, Smart TVs also stand out for the experience offered by their operating system. Some of the best include Android TV and Google TV, although personally Android TV was my favorite until Google TV came along. That said, some manufacturers have an ace up their sleeve: free channels. Thus, LG and its WebOS have LG channels, Samsung’s Tizen houses the Samsung TV Plus and Xiaomi, whose Smart TVs have different operating systems, has the Mi TV+.

But it’s Google TV also offers free channels. In this case, it is not a specific brand of televisions but rather an operating system found in different brands and other devices such as set-top boxes. If you don’t quite understand what this initiative is, where it can be seen and what it offers, we try to clear up the main doubts in this article.

What are free Google TV channels?

About a year ago, Google announced its FAST channel service. What is QUICK? The acronym of Free, ad-supported television Or what is the same, free television thanks to advertisements where you will find live content (not on demand), legally and without paying anything.

And you don’t have to do anything else, neither download an app, nor create an account nor, of course, pay a subscription like the usual streaming services like Netflix or HBO: they simply appear integrated into the Google interface TV, in the menu. at the top, just after ‘For you’ and before ‘Films’ or ‘Series’… there is a new tab called ‘Live’.

This “Live” tab is actually a platform where channels of all kinds will appear, from local news and famous shows to box office hits, in a unified way, bringing together more than 800 free channels from different providersorganized in an easy-to-use grid-style guide so you don’t get lost.

Android TV was my favorite operating system, but Google TV is even better: four reasons why I prefer it

Where to watch free Google TV channels

The million dollar question. We’ve already said where to find them in the Google TV interface, but the reality is that if I go to my TV and look for it, it won’t be there. We go there in parts, more precisely, with the compatible devices and the territories where they have been deployed.

Free Google TV channels appear on Google TV devicesthat is, the Chromecast with Google TV and Smart TV with integrated Google TV from brands such as Sony, TCL, Hisense or Philips, although Google’s idea is to bring it to some devices equipped with Android TV.

Regarding geographic availability, for the moment Free Google TV channels are only available in the United States. However, it’s only a matter of time before they roll out to more countries, although Google didn’t provide a timeline or list of countries. Of course, there’s always a trick: install a VPN on your Smart TV from the Google Play Store and use it, which will allow you to move the location so you can set it up as if you were in the United States.

Complete list of free Google TV channels

We mentioned above that Google TV’s commitment to free channels is so strong that the list exceeds 800 and it is also available in more than ten languages, including Spanish.

Within the ‘Live’ hub appears content from Pluto (this unification began at the end of 2021), Tubi, Plex and Haystack News, in addition to content from YouTube TV, Sling TV and Philo. But he also integrated free native streaming channels which run directly on the ‘Live’ screen and do not require applications or accounts beyond Google, the number of which is a little lower, around 80 which we list below, according to 9to5Google:
