There’s very little left before the Pixel 8a launches; We know this not only because of the large number of unofficial leaks, but also because Google itself has “escaped” several times.
For example, the time a Google engineer confirmed that a new feature would be exclusive to the Pixel 8a and later models, which angered Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro users. And now the company has made another mistake by using the new device in an advance advertising campaign.
The announcement appeared momentarily on YouTube, where some users were able to see it and take a screenshot; As of this writing, it appears that the market ing department noticed and removed the ad, but it was too late.
The Pixel 8a is almost completely leaked
Oddly enough, the ad was not aimed at mobile phones, but at Google Fi Wireless, the Internet service that Google offers in certain cities in the United States. In Europe Google Fi is not available, so the ad is not interesting here, but it should interest us that the mobile phone used in the ad is a Pixel 8a.
We know that the mobile phone in the image is a Pixel 8a because Does not fit any known models. Although it looks a lot like the classic Pixel 8, an important clue is that this mobile does not have the microphone hole in the same place; On the Pixel 8, right next to the flash, there is a small place where the microphone is housed, which is not present on this device (presumably it would be elsewhere).
But perhaps the best indicator that this isn’t a current mobile phone is the colors and textures of the two models shown. The two cell phones that appear in the ad They use colors that are not available for the base Pixel 8, and which are exclusive to the Pixel 8 Pro; but we know it’s not that model because of the camera set with only two sensors. To this we must add the matte finish that these devices seem to have, while the Pixel 8 has a glossy finish on the back.
Shortly after this image was published, technical details of the Pixel 8a were leaked on X (Twitter). Some technical characteristics were already known, such as the use of the same Tensor G3 processor as the Pixel 8, and a 6.1-inch 120 Hz OLED screen.
