The Apple TV, although it is a device little announced by the Big Apple, maintains its sales and allows us to have an Apple ecosystem within a television. Thanks to tvOS we can see access to a multitude of multimedia content from different streaming services, as well as user content stored in the Apple ID. Additionally, in tvOS 17, the function of make video calls thanks to the camera of our iPhone or iPad. However, New rumor suggests Apple may be considering integrating a camera into the Apple TV with which to control tvOS with gestures as well as make video calls.
A camera on Apple TV: gestures, video calls, applications…
One of the things that caught the most attention in tvOS 17 during its presentation at WWDC23 was the FaceTime integration in tvOS with which to make video calls. The camera? That of our iPhone or iPad which, thanks to a support, could be placed so that it was the camera with which we would transmit in FaceTime.

However, Mark Gurman announced in his Sunday newsletter yesterday that Apple might consider adding a camera to the Apple TV. And it might make sense after adding the FaceTime app. Although Gurman didn’t say anything about the hardware, it is true that he introduces this slogan:
Apple TV with camera would support gesture-based controls
This gesture control could be carried out via several technologies. However, A camera would allow video calls, control tvOS and open up a world of possibilities for developers and transform the Apple TV into Apple’s new video game console with which users will be able to play and control the game with their body thanks to the integrated camera.
Gurman did not give further details on this or set a release date. The only information we have is that Apple plans to move forward with the Apple TV, a device that many currently consider dead.
