What is deep sea fishing?

Deep Sea Fishing is like an Alliance raid, but for fishing. You board a large boat that takes you through three different parts of the body of water and must complete objectives to earn additional points.

You will be divided into a full group with two other groups on your boat. The goal is to catch fish to score big points within the time limit.

However, it’s not just about catching big, rare fish. Catching special “Spectral Fish” has a chance of triggering one Spectral current. These spectral currents allow you to even catch more Fish with higher point values, so the goal is almost always to trigger one of these points.

There are also a handful of objectives that you must complete during the expedition, such as catching lots of sharks or jellyfish.

How to unlock deep sea fishing in FFXIV

To start your great sea fishing adventure you need to unlock the Fisherman Job you can do by going to Fishermen’s Guild In Limsa Lominsa. You also need to complete the next Fisher quest: “My first fishing rod.” You can fish in the sea even if your fisherman has reached level 1. (In fact, deep sea fishing is a really easy way to level up the fisherman super quickly.)

Which bait to use when deep sea fishing

How to get a high score in sea fishing

Deep sea fishing allows you to min-max, and although big scores also depend on luck, there are a few things you can do to increase your score:

• No more fish in the sea II: Score at least 10,000 points during a single deep sea fishing trip on the Indigo Route (Hybodus horn for the mount)
• Near, far, wherever there are fish II: Score at least 10,000 points during a single deep-sea fishing trip on the Ruby Route (Mossasaurus minions)
• Mine Mine MINE: Encounter 3 flocks of seagulls while sea fishing (Seagull servant)
• Double somersault backwards: Encounter three pods of dolphins while sea fishing (Dolphin calf servant)

You can claim these rewards in the achievement menu once you have achieved the achievement.

• On a boat V: Earn a total of 3 million points from sea fishing, (World class troller title)
• No more fish in the sea III: Score at least 16,000 points during a single deep-sea fishing trip on the Indigo Route (Title “Ocean Fisherman.”)
• No more fish in the sea IV: Score at least 20,000 points during a single deep sea fishing trip on the Indigo Route (Title “Masters of the Seas”.)
