After years of working on The Elder Scrolls Online, ZeniMax Online Studios seems to want to produce more games. And on paper it looks promising.
However, this remains on paper, as these are simply mentions on the LinkedIn profiles of studio employees. However, given the good work on The Elder Scrolls Online, there is reason to be happy. We’ll go through all of this in more detail.
In the small world of MMORPGs, The Elder Scrolls Online has earned a good place despite tough competition. However, the task was not easy in the face of giants like Final Fantasy 14 or World of Warcraft. The process took time and required many expansions. However, it seems like it’s time for ZeniMax Online Studios to diversify.
Through the LinkedIn pages of some studio employees, we learn that more AAA games are in the pipeline. To be more precise, the Bethesda subsidiary would have two projects in mind, both based on a different engine. One of them would also be a completely new license. A little novelty wouldn’t be a bad idea for the creative minds at ZeniMax Online Studios.
An MMO and a multi-shooter in the viewfinder?
However, it appears that these two future games will retain a multiplayer component. The first would actually be the introduction of a new license in the form of an MMO. No offense to the fans, ZeniMax should therefore not work on a massively multiplayer Fallout game. In addition to introducing a new license, this title is also powered by a new engine.
The second game is being developed by veterans of many well-known studios. We can name Activision, Bungie, DICE, Raven Software or even PUBG. Given the names mentioned, everything indicates that this second game should be a multiplayer shooter. Let’s hope it’s not a battle royale though, as that style of play isn’t really in vogue anymore. Of course, at the moment these are just words on a LinkedIn page. Therefore, it will probably take a long time before you see the first results. The ideas are definitely there, all that remains is to develop them further into two real games.
