Hello Destiny 2 people. Bungie just gave a major update to its plans for the game’s much-hyped next big expansion, Final Shape, and there’s a lot to unpack. For example, there’s a new subclass, Prismatic, which looks to basically let you modify the gameplay of all existing classes in the game, as well as, uh, gain the inspiration needed to throw some new grenades.

Considering the news from Bungie late last year and the delay of Destiny 2’s Final Form being part of that, it’s fair to say that the expansion’s development has been affected quite a bit. So, what’s the plan? Well, I will let you achieve a “transcendence” casually.

If you missed the important gameplay preview included with Final Shape and the two-month Into the Light update that launched in-game yesterday, arguably the biggest highlight is the former’s prismatic genre. what is it? Well, as Boogie describes it: “For the first time, Guardians utilizing Prisms will be able to mix and match Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand – combining them to unlock new potential in power and customization.”

Apparently it’s more than just the ability to change up your hunter, warlock, or guy in a silly hat with the help of some new aspects and shards, though. You’ll be able to completely enter a new state of existence, which in Destiny fashion is called “transcendence” and is exclusive to the Prism class. How does it work? “By dealing light and dark damage, you’ll charge up to two meters, and when full, can achieve a temporary transcendence state, unlocking new and unique grenade abilities and weapon damage bonuses.”

So, basically, you’ll do more damage and be able to throw some new grenades that fuse elements together. Cool. There will also be some new exotic class items that you can combine with new classes to make your builds even more outlandish. Additionally, new enemies arrive in the form of The Dread, whose variations resemble gun-toting bats and live up to their 2000s metal band name.

Oh, and if you jump back into the game now, you’ll be able to enjoy a lot of new content in Into the Light, like a new PvE event – Onslaught -, a bunch of new weapons, and the Hall of Champions is a new place to hang out The venue is, uh, the Hall of Champions. Additionally, as part of the update, there will be more drip content in the coming period.
