Netflix brings you a completely new top 10 every week, so there are always great surprises. It’s not just current films and hit series like “3 Body Problem” that are firmly at the top and are watched a lot by the streaming service’s subscribers.
Because this week, “Sherlock,” one of the most popular drama series ever, returns to the Netflix best list and unexpectedly places itself in the top 10 of the German series charts with its first season. The BBC series is one of the best-known adaptations in the Sherlock Holmes series and features absolute stars such as Benedict Cumberbatch (“Doctor Strange”) and Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit” series) as his sidekick Dr. Convince Watson.
The sudden comeback of “Sherlock” is particularly surprising since the drama series was released in 2010 and so far only the fourth season with a total of 13 episodes has been released. It’s understandable, then, that many Netflix viewers are now raising the expectation that there could even be further episodes after this successful streak.
A possible continuation of the crime series has not yet been completely ruled out, but the chances of new episodes or even a new Sherlock film are rather slim. The main reason for this is the busy schedules of the main actors. Both have always been completely busy with other projects in the extensive Marvel universe such as “Secret Invasion” or with short films such as “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar”.
If you still don’t want to give up hope and want to pass the time until then, you can continue to watch “Sherlock” diligently on Netflix and maybe even get the other seasons into the best list. You can also find other well-known British series such as “Peaky Blinders” with Oscar winner and “Oppenheimer” star Cillian Murphy or “The Crown” on the streaming service to distract you enough.
