Witcher 3 fan finds new Easter egg 9 years after release

There is much to do The Witcher 3the open-world role-playing game “Red” by CD Projekt, released in 2015. Many players, including myself, have spent hundreds of hours playing the protagonist Geralt Explore every corner of the map, complete every quest and kill every monster. But it turns out almost a decade later The Witcher 3 still has secrets to discover, the latest of which is a Easter egg hidden beneath the bustling city of Novigrad.

Discovered by YouTuber xLetalis (and first reported by IGN) the newest Witcher 3 Easter Egg is about a mistake on the map. As xLetalis’ video shows, the player must exploit a bug that transports Geralt under the Novigrad map and into a small alley between buildings. In the alley is a piece of art reminiscent of recruitment posters, depicting a Temerian soldier with the text “CDPR NEEDS YOU!” a reference to the commonly used abbreviation of The Witcher 3 And Cyberpunk 2077 Studio name.

The video indicates that the Easter egg will not be visible when exploring the world with an unlocked camera, but only if the player exploits a specific bug – although it is unclear which exact bug will lead players to the Easter egg. xLetalis claims a bystander came across the Easter Egg while sprinting towards Dijkstra in the Bathhouse office, but managed to trigger the glitch by using the console command “Phase” and through the walls directly above the Easter’s location Eggs hatched.

This isn’t the first time an Easter egg has appeared in the Witcher 3 It took years to discover it. In fact, xLetalis has discovered an Easter egg from the Blood and wine extension in 2022 After quest designer Philipp Weber pointed out the existence of a mystery surrounding the character Vivienne. At the end of their quest, Geralt warns that their lifespan has been shortened to seven years. xLetalis used console commands to fast forward seven years in the game and discovered that Vivienne died exactly as Geralt had predicted.

The purpose of this latest Easter egg revealed is unknown, although like most hidden things in games, it could just be a fun secret that the developers left for players to find later. Although the “CDPR NEEDS YOU!” message, xLetalis wonders if this was intended as some sort of actual recruitment for the developer – if you could find this poster, perhaps you would be deemed worthy of working with the studio.

CDPR has dedicated modders in the past the developers behind Wolvenkit, a modding tool for The Witcher 3 And Cyberpunk 2077in 2021. When The Witcher 3 released its next-gen update in 2022, the game included a handful of these Fan-made mods (including realistic vaginas which have since been removed). A official mod editor should come Witcher 3 sometime this year, so perhaps we’ll see more Easter eggs popping up in the future.
