Publisher SelectaPlay and developer Hungry Pixel have announced NetherWorld for Switch, an action-adventure narrative experience making its way to the console in in 2025.
Boasting some stylish pixel art visuals, Netherworld looks absolutely stunning crazy, and it’s right up our street. It also doesn’t look like it’s particularly suitable for younger players, so don’t be fooled by the humorous music in the trailer; there are certainly several ‘Conker’ vibes with this.
It stars Medoo, a curious little jellyfish who finds herself in a dark and mysterious land after drowning her sorrows in a bottle of vodka. There, you’ll have to sail the world, meet a ship full of weird and wonderful characters, and fight scary (and disgusting) bosses.
Let’s take a look at the key features:
– Twisted story – Travel through a disturbed land where wizards, prostitute entrepreneurs, mobsters, sociopathic kids, old perverts and many other strange characters want to fix the pieces of your broken life, or at least try to. (spoiler alert – most of them will make things worse!)
– Crazy mini games – Earn money and other useful items by participating in drinking contests, engaging in love encounters (!), shooting things, or controlling a bionic tick named Joe through dirty outlaw-like underground dungeons. Complete missions throughout the story and be rewarded with special hats, masks, weapons and other mission items.
– Bonkers boss fights– Time to kick some twisted asses! Survive wild boss encounters during your crazy adventure using all kinds of guns, weapons and environmental objects… or bravely relax completely unarmed!
NetherWorld will be available both digitally and physically when it launches on Switch in 2025.
