The announcement we’ve all been waiting for isn’t coming any time soon

announcement, Coming, Isnt, time, waiting, weve

While Nintendo attended Gamescom last year to secretly introduce the Switch 2 to developers, that won’t be the case this year.

The Japanese giant has actually officially announced that it will not take part in the 2024 edition of the major European trade fair. A missed opportunity for European fans to physically learn more about the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2.

Despite being a regular at Gamescom, Nintendo has apparently decided not to attend this year after careful consideration. The Japanese giant therefore does not believe that it needs to make enough important announcements to travel to Cologne. However, the opportunity would have been ideal for a proper presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Unfortunately, these are not the company’s plans. Remember that a priori this highly anticipated console should arrive in the first quarter of 2025. An announcement this summer would therefore be too early for the manufacturer. However, the Nintendo Switch 2 and Gamescom have one important point in common. In fact, it was presented to developers in secret during last year’s edition. They were able to gain a first-hand impression of his abilities, which were clearly superior to his famous ancestor.

A console that really looks contemporary?

According to persistent rumors, the future console will be seriously updated in several aspects. Thanks to an NVIDIA chip, it would include DLSS, the famous high-end technology through machine learning. This would open up great possibilities for the console, potentially allowing it to display games smoothly and in up to 4K.

It could also integrate ray tracing to some extent. However, you shouldn’t expect the same results as on an Xbox Series X or a PS5 Pro (which is due to be launched this summer). Such technical possibilities are likely to change the lives of Nintendo fans significantly. However, the Japanese giant has yet to finally decide to unveil this famous Nintendo Switch 2. In any case, this will not happen during Gamescom, to the great dismay of European fans who would certainly have liked the satisfaction of “such exclusivity”.
