Elden Ring: All Deathroot Locations

Deathroot, Elden, locations, Ring

THE Roots of death are key items in Elden Ring that can be exchanged for valuable rewards.

They have no other purpose than to be placed in the right place and to receive something in exchange. So you can use them in complete conscience without worrying about missing something elsewhere. In the following guide we will show you where to find all Deathroots in Elden Ring and what to use them for.

Where to find Deathroots in Elden Ring

  • In a chest behind the Black Knife Assassin in the Catacombs touched by death (Limgrave).
  • In a chest behind the Shadow of the Graveyard in the Black Knife Catacombs (Liurnia).
  • For defeating the Tibia Mariner in Water Summoning Village (Limgrave).
  • For defeating the Tibia Mariner in the Wyndham Ruins (Altus Plateau).
  • For defeating the Tibia Mariner east of Liurnia of the Lakes.
  • For defeating the Tibia Mariner near Château Sol (Giant Mountains).
  • For defeating the Sorrowed Tree Spirit within the Catacombs of the giants on top of the mountains.
  • For defeating the champion’s red wolf within Gelmir’s Hero’s Tomb.
  • For defeating the Stray Mimic Tear inside the Hidden path to the Haligtree (where you have to find and cross a hidden area).

Why do you need Deathroots in Elden Ring

You will get the first clue about such a root of Da character located west of Summonwater Village in Limgrave, who warns you about the Tibia Mariner in the village.

Defeat this little boss and collect your first root. Show it to D in the Round Table to continue his quest. He will mark a portal on your map that will take you to the Holy Beast among the Coelids. This location is also accessible on foot, but it’s much faster with the teleporter.

At this location you will encounter Gurranq, the beast-priest. He exchanges Deathroots for items, and especially beautiful incantations. Each root you submit unlocks another reward. A rare Ancient Dragonforge Stone waiting for you at the end.

Note: After receiving four roots, Gurranq will attack you. You need to fight him briefly and take some health from him to get him to calm down again.

The Eye of the Beast is shaking – what does that mean?

This is an in-game hint that a Deathroot is nearby. THE Beast Eye is a reward from Gurranq for handing over the first Deathroot. Every time it starts to shake, another root isn’t far away.

Can you farm Deathroots?

No, unfortunately you can’t. There are no enemies that drop Deathroots, nor is there a recipe for crafting them from materials.

You can find nine Deathroots per game and give them to Gurranq. The beast will then disappear and you will have completed its quest.
