Whisper of the Worm is a powerful exotic sniper rifle that has returned to Destiny 2 as part of the New Light update.
This weapon takes up your heavy weapon slot in Destiny 2 and has an exceptional ability called White Nail. With it, quickly landing three critical hits immediately refills the magazine from reserves, giving this weapon huge potential to deal damage.

How to get Worm Whisper in Destiny 2
Whisper of the Worm is a weapon obtained exclusively through an Exotic Weapon mission called The whisper. We have a complete Whisper guide to walk you through it step by step, but the general concept is simple.
First of all, visit Eris Morn on the moon. She will assign you a quest called Whisper of the Past. Now open your Director and navigate to the Into the Light section. The Whisper will be available to battle.
Completing this mission does a few important things. First, it grants you your first Whisper of the Worm. Next, this allows you to visit Eris Morn to complete the Whisper of the Past quest, at which point she will give you another Whisper of the Worm, this time with Deepsight Resonance active. You can now extract the pattern and custom create your own Whisper of the Worm at the Clave, allowing you to select the perfect perks for your own divine scroll.
How to unlock all Whisper of the Worm upgrades in Destiny 2
Once you complete Whisper of the Past with Eris, she will assign you new missions called Whisper of the Taken. These are time-limited, and are scheduled to release one by one during the first three weeks of the season. Completing each of these items will unlock a new trait crafted on your Whisper of the Worm.
Whisper of the Taken I unlocks the Field preparation trait, which increases your ammo capacity and increases reload speed while crouching. The stages of this quest are:
- Defeat the captured fighters and collect their captured essence.
- Destroy the first set of Taken Blights on Legend difficulty.
- Complete the exotic mission “The Whisper” on Legend difficulty.
- Talk to Eris Morn on the Moon.
The first series of Taken Blights appears on the right near the entrance to The Whisper, after defeating the first group of Corrupted enemies. Two will appear pretty much dead in front of you. The other is a vertical column of light. You may need to jump to get a good angle to shoot the latter.
Whisper of the Taken II unlocks No distractions, which reduces flinch from hits when aiming down sights. The stages of this quest are:
- Defeat the Corrupted fighters equipped with Whisper of the Worm and collect their Corrupted Essences.
- Defeat the second set of Corrupted on Legend difficulty.
- Complete the exotic mission “The Whisper” on Legend difficulty.
- Talk to Eris Morn on the Moon.
The second series of Taken Blights appears in the large green space you enter after skipping most of the jumping puzzle section. This is the same area in our guide that we identify as the place to squeeze through a small hole. As soon as you reach this room, look straight ahead. A flail is slightly to the right. Another is in the distance, in the center of a large circular cutout in the wall ahead.
The last one will be up in the air to the left.

Destiny 2 Whisper of the Worm God Scroll Recommendation
Once you have gained Whisper of the Worm and all the options, the next step is to create the best possible version, or a “god roll”. This weapon’s job is to unleash massive damage with a precise shot, so that’s where the emphasis lies.
Here is our recommendation Whisper of the Worm God Roll in Destiny 2:
- Arrowhead break
- Stable towers
- Field preparation
- Composite actions
Arrowhead break has the most important task of controlling recoil. Whisper will mainly be used on large, almost stationary bosses. This will allow you to still fire accurately on a single critical point, and the bumpy handling of this gun is a nice bonus.
Stable towers adds a massive increase to weapon stability, which is extremely important for landing repeated critical hits. This comes with a slight decrease in range, but as a sniper, Whisper of the Worm has plenty to spare.
Field preparation assumes you will make your shots (otherwise you should take Mulligan). This perk increases the amount of ammo in your reserve. The idea is that more ammo means more shots, which means more damage.
Composite actions is a great intermediate option that slightly improves handling speed and stability. Take with the previous perks, and they help add that little extra to make Whisper of the Worm an enjoyable weapon to shoot.
