Final Fantasy 16is the (presumably) last DLC, The coming floodis a fascinating case study of how fan speculation can greatly influence an audience’s expectations. On the one hand, Square Enix and the folks at Creative Business Unit 3 never promised that this DLC pack would have any impact on the game’s main story. However, there are still teasers and rumors ahead of the release The coming floodThe launch of ‘s has inadvertently fueled the rumor mill about a possibly altered or secret ending.
To make it short, complete The coming flood will not change the ending of Final Fantasy 16. However, it is worth first explaining the reasons for the speculation, as they are linked to some clever secrets of this new campaign.
The following contains spoilers for The Rising Tide and the ending of Final Fantasy 16.
What’s going on with the secret Eikon? The coming flood?
As the game itself announces after downloading The coming flood, Leviathan isn’t the only new toy you can play with. It’s not exactly one though EikonClive Rosfield can get the powers Final Fantasy 16‘S great evil itself: Ultimate.
To unlock Ultima, you must complete the main story quest The coming flood. This means you defeat Leviathan and see the splash screen that says “The Rising Tide Quest Complete.” A window will then appear that says “An Invitation,” luring you back to the Arete Stone in The Hideaway. Go there and the sequence where Clive gains Ultima’s powers will play immediately.
I was able to trigger this sequence without completing any side quests The coming floodSo there are no significant prerequisites. However, if you don’t unlock the invite after defeating Leviathan, make sure you’ve eliminated the final boss Final Fantasy 16 and play with the unique data you will be asked to create after you complete the game. This is also required to unlock the endgame Kairos Gate gauntlet.
Clive running around with Ultima’s wings seems to have a notable impact on the story. In fact, the original teaser for this feature is at the end of The coming flood‘s trailer is almost certainly the trigger for this speculation Final Fantasy 16The ending could change. However, this moment is treated solely as a nice bonus and is never mentioned again afterwards. Even using Ultima’s powers in the final battle doesn’t trigger as much as “You would use my own powers against me!?” at every point.
What about the special epilogue quest in? The coming flood?
This is another feature of The coming flood That’s a bit taken out of context. When you are ready Echoes of the Fallen, The coming floodand side quests with Shula, an additional quest called The water of life will appear in Mysidia. If you meet the requirements, Shula will give you this quest by the water in Haven. You can’t miss it.
Note: You do not need to complete the epilogue to get the “The End Can Wait” trophy. Instead, you just need to complete all other available side quests.
Here’s the thing: The Water of Life is an epilogue to the DLC stories. not the story of the main game. You’ll see how Echoes of the Fallen connects with The coming flood, and you’ll get some closure with little Waljas after the whole ordeal with Leviathan. If you’re an English literature nerd like me, you might draw some parallels between the quest’s themes of life and death Final Fantasy 16is over. However, it doesn’t explicitly address what happens after the end.
Again, the conclusion of “The Water of Life” does not change the ending in any way. There isn’t even an additional credits splash screen acknowledging Mysidia and its inhabitants. Trust me, I checked.
This is how Clive really dies in the end Final Fantasy 16?
After establishing the above, it seems to be the end of Final Fantasy 16 is set in stone for now. If you’re still having trouble interpreting Clive’s fate at the end, they say, the developers have intentionally left it so that you can do just that an interview with The player. That said, if you want to believe that Clive survives in the end and tells his story, no one can tell you otherwise for sure.
That said, if you want my opinion on this… well, considering Clive says this before the end:
“It seems that the Ultima’s power has been too great for this ship all along. But as long as I have it… Maybe I can use it to set things right… and see Ultima’s legacy – wielders, dominants, crystals, magic – consigned to the flames. Even if it means the end of me.”
And Gav says this to the newborn child:
“The world is yours now. You can do whatever you want with it. That’s what Cid wanted. That’s what she is both wanted.”
And the lyrics to the closing song and Jill’s theme “My Star” contain this verse:
“And if I can’t bear the pain
I will look at the sky and pray
Even when our night is over, you will always stay
Forever my darling, my star.”
I mean, Clive seems pretty dead to me. At least he is mostly dead.
