Does Dragon Plague in Dragon’s Dogma 2 bother you? The next patch for the game will make it appear slightly less frequently and make it easier to spot.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is, for the most part, a game that does exactly what it wants, albeit with some player hostility at times. One design that caused a lot of friction among players was the Dragon Plague, a disease that chess pieces could contract, on the one hand making them stronger and more effective in combat, but on the other hand, these pieces would be destroyed if allowed to fester. Might go on and kill an entire village. It’s actually a cool design, as the disease spreads between save files due to the game’s online features, though some people have started creating mods to make it easier to determine how infected pawns are.

Thankfully, the disease doesn’t appear to be as contagious as it currently is, as stated in the patch notes for the upcoming update. As shared on the game’s Twitter, the next update will “reduce the frequency of Dragon Plague infections” and make “signs of infection more visible.” An example is “When infected, glowing eyes are more noticeable.” An option has also been added that lets you zoom in on your player character as well as the faces of your pieces, so hopefully this will make it easier to see if they have Dragon Plague.

I’m also happy to see some adjustments to pawn behavior and dialogue, my favorite of which is that the frequency of certain lines of dialogue is being reduced. This issue has persisted, and there’s even a mod that reduces the amount of talking the pieces do, so this is a welcome update. Other improvements include pieces being less likely to fall off cliffs, and an issue where players were occasionally unable to move five pieces higher has been fixed. There are a few other fixes and tweaks, but you can read those above for yourself.
