Android Auto 11.8 is now available for everyone and comes with a new Google Maps feature

Android, Auto, feature, Google, Maps

We had to wait a little longer than usual but Android Auto 11.8 is here and directly to the stable version, without beta in between. The update arrives about two weeks after the stable release of Android Auto 11.7.

Google is once again ignoring the Android Auto beta, which is becoming more and more common. The new version should resolve issues with WhatsApp and voice commands, in addition to introducing a useful change in Google Maps.

You can now update to Android Auto 11.8

It’s time to update your Android Auto app and the good news is that the new version is deployed worldwide, with or without beta version. This is one of those rare occasions where the new version is released directly to everyone, without going through the beta program first.

Google Maps and Android Auto 11.8

As always, we tested Android Auto 11.8 looking for new features and while the system itself is the same in appearance, there is one difference in Google Maps in Android Auto: the Shortcuts for home and work in the search bar.

These two shortcuts, which sometimes appear mixed with other suggestions for destinations that Google thinks might interest us, now appear the most highlighted of the rest with a different background color.

Android Auto 11.8 is already distributed through Google Play, so it is possible that it has already been updated on your mobile. The new version is version 11.8.6416 and Here are the steps to follow to update:

  • First, check which version of Android Auto you already have, as it may have been updated without your knowledge.
  • If you still don’t have Android Auto 11.8, open Google Play and tap your profile picture, then choose Manage apps and devices. Then press Update all.
  • If you still don’t see the update, visit the Android Auto 11.8 page on APKMirror and download the file to your mobile.
  • Open the file (it will open with the package installer) and press Update when asked.
