Open world games are going out of style. In the transition from Xbox 360 to Xbox One, this was one of the promises of all the developers and there really was a time where everything had to be open world otherwise it was uninteresting. This is how Ubisoft gave birth to the Watch Dogs brand. With a trailer that made our hair stand on end thanks to its superb graphics and which will then be remembered forever as one of the most epic downgrades in history, let’s say that the brand has not not off to a good start.
The first Watch Dogs, despite everything, was a success, because it was a very good game in its essence. In fact, its protagonist, Aiden Pearce, made his figure transcend to become one of the most famous characters in video games, but Watch Dogs managed to dilute this powerful image by increasing the number of protagonists. The game was still significantly better, but It was Watch Dogs Legion, with its “anyone can be your character” proposition that had the least impact of all.. So much so that it seems the saga has been canceled, forever.
Nobody likes to see a saga disappear
Of course, There is no official confirmation from Ubisoft, and we don’t think there ever will be.. Although we hope that somehow he will come forward to deny it, since the information once again comes from famous insider “j0nathan”, who via where he states the following:
Watch Dogs is dead and buried. The failure of Legion destroyed projects based on the license (including a fairly original Battle Royale)
It’s bad news to never see a new game again, but even worse to know that other games have probably been canceled for this reason. Hopefully Ubisoft reconsiders this idea and returns to the beginning of the saga, with a more experienced Aiden Pearce involved in a plot that is the vehicle for a new opus.
