One week after the second beta of iOS 17.5, the third beta arrives with the corresponding iPadOS, watchOS, macOS and tvOScurrently reserved for developers.
Throughout April, Apple released three beta versions of its upcoming update for iPhone, iPad, and the company’s other devices. Beta 3 of iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5, tvOS 17.5, watchOS 10.5 and macOS Sonoma 14.5 They arrive this last week of the month, leaving the way well prepared for the launch of the final version before the presentation event of iOS 18, in early June. The new features of iOS 17.5 are not very relevant, with the exception of the first: it allows the installation of applications directly from a web page.
- Install apps directly from a website: This new feature had already been announced by Apple a few weeks ago. Therefore, with iOS 17.5 we will be able to install applications from the App Store, from other alternative stores accepted by Apple and also from developer websites under the function called Webcast. Of course, developers will have to agree to Apple’s rules, which call for a 50-cent payment for each annual install over a million in the last 12 months. This function will only reach the European Union.
- Apple Podcasts widget: The Apple Podcasts app home screen widget now has a dynamic color this changes depending on the coverage of the podcast we are listening to. Before, it was just a color that persisted over time.
- Opting out of unwanted tracking: The iOS 17.5 code introduces in its first beta for developers a system allowing you to deactivate tracking devices (AirTags, etc.). The operating system will detect devices even if they are not certified on the Find My network and warn the user to disable them. However, this feature has not been announced by Apple, so we understand that it will be in development.
At the moment we have not found any other new features in this latest beta, nor any other relevant new features in the rest of the systems.
