Good news for fans of The Legend of Zelda. This is a discovery really outstanding related to the franchise and its original game.
As we have known, the Video Game History Foundation has preserved and posted online a prototype cartridge of the original Legend of Zelda for NES. These are its characteristics:
- The prototype cartridge is enclosed in a yellow casing used for testingbut the code is the same as the final version.
- One difference that has been found is a bug that causes Link to appear underground when exiting the doors by a single frame.
- In the coming weeks, the search will continue possible major changes made by Nintendo before the final release.
In the meantime, you can take a look at the discovery below:
I’ve only been able to play the prototype for a couple minutes, but one minor bug I observed: When you exit a cave, Link remains under the ground at his last position for one frame before teleporting to the cave entrance. pic.twitter.com/UodBkr0vCX
