Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan, the kicking and punching Pokémon from Kanto, can be found in the wild Pokémon Go. Yes, Both Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan can be shiny Pokémon Go!
The whole Hitmon family can actually shine! You can only get Tyrogue from eggs as it’s technically a “baby” Pokémon, while the others just hang around in the wild, although we don’t see them in the wild all that often.
What is the shiny rate for Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan in Pokémon Go?
According to old research from the now-defunct website The Silph Road (via Wayback machine), the shiny rate for Pokémon on a normal day is approximately one in 500. Neither Hitmonchan nor Hitmonlee are confirmed Pokémon to receive a “permaboost” (meaning that it is a rare spawn and therefore receives an increased shiny rate ).
What can I do to attract more shiny Pokémon?
Unfortunately not much. It seems to be a coincidence. Catch rates for Shiny Pokémon are set by developer Niantic and are typically only increased during special events such as Community Days or Safari Zones, or during Legendary Raids. There are no consumable items that increase the rate of shiny Pokémon.
Where can I find a list of available shiny Pokémon?
LeekDuck holds a list of currently available shiny Pokémon. It’s a helpful visual guide that illustrates what all existing Shiny Pokémon look like.
