Just before a festival of big video game release announcements takes place in June, there’s certainly no shortage of big video games to check out in the month of May.
The year 2024 has already spoiled us quite a bit when it comes to video game releases. In January we notably had Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Palworld and Tekken 8; Granblue Fantasy: Relink, Helldivers 2 and FF7 Rebirth in February; The Thaumaturge, Dragon’s Dogma 2 and Rise of the Ronin in March; and finally Tales of Kenzera: Zau, Sand Land, Stellar Blade as well as No Rest for the Wicked and Manor Lords in Early Access in April. Now to the releases for the month of May, with a nice program!
Very nice video game releases in May 2024
Although our list appears a week after hostilities began, it is worth remembering some headlines that appeared before this article was published. Among them we can mention in particular Endless Ocean Luminous for Switch on May 2nd and the very nice surprise Hades 2 in Early Access for PC on May 6th, a rogue-lite game that promises to be just as divine as Hades in the first part . However, there are still plenty of releases to see for the rest of the month.
Particularly noteworthy is the Operation Guns DLC for Vampire Survivors, which will be released in collaboration with the legendary Contra series on May 9th for PC, Xbox consoles, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. On May 13th, big fans of space strategy games can board the hype ship and head to PC with Homeworld 3. On May 14th, another rogue-lite game that we really appreciated is coming to PC Early Access: Prince of Persia The Rogue.
The second half of May will not be missing the three big fish of video games: PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo. On May 16th, PC gamers can finally take a trip to feudal Japan with Sucker Punch’s port of the great Ghost of Tsushima. Xbox will follow suit with Ninja Theory’s visual stunner Senua’s Saga Hellblade 2, highly anticipated on May 21st for PC and Xbox Series. On the same day, World of Warcraft nostalgia fans can (re)experience the explosive Cataclysm expansion in its classic form. Finally, FPS fans can try out Ubisoft’s repeatedly delayed free game: XDefiant.
On May 23rd, Switch players will be treated to the much-publicized return of two licenses. On the one hand: Paper Mario: The Millennium Door is getting a remake. On the other hand, World of Goo 2 will return to us after an excellent first work from 2008. The home stretch of May video game releases will conclude on May 24th with a PS5 and Xbox Series version of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2; the resurrection of MultiVersus on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles on May 28; and finally F1 24, also on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles on May 31st.
