But while creating an army worthy of the name requires enormous amounts of human and material resources, there is an alternative, or at least a shortcut, that the mercenary system offers. Thus, it is possible to recruit mercenaries, which come in the form of fully equipped units. So here let’s see how this particular recruiting system works.
There are no really specific requirements that need to be met before recruiting mercenaries in Manor Lords. Note, however, that such a contract requires money, this time in the form of a treasury, i.e. the money your lord has. To recruit mercenaries, you need to go to the “Army” menu of the interface (keyboard shortcut usually assigned to the “v” key). From this menu, select the “Create New Units” option. You then have the choice to create different types of units using your resources and your land’s inhabitants, but instead select the “Hire Mercenaries” option on the far right..
And here a new menu will open where you can choose the mercenary force that suits you best. This type of business is renewed regularly. So, as you can see in the screenshot above, we only had one squad available. But it is actually possible to have multiple options.
Once you have made your choice, all you have to do is confirm it. The mercenaries will then enter your country from a pre-specified area and you can then deploy them like any other regiment in your army.. Please note again that you do not have to equip your mercenaries, but you must pay an amount every month that may vary depending on the prestige of the troop you have hired. Also note that you can only hire one mercenary force at a time. However, you can cancel your contract as soon as you feel like it and your needs change.
