Dragon’s Dogma 3 will certainly see the light of day, Capcom has confirmed

Capcom, certainly, confirmed, day, dogma, Dragons, Light

12 years after the release of a first work that failed to gain widespread acclaim, the Dragon’s Dogma brand finally officially occupies a special place in Capcom’s heart.

After Resident Evil, Street Fighter and Monster Hunter and the commercial success of Dragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom is considering making it its new strong brand. So a third work is clearly planned, or even more. At least that’s what we can see from the Japanese giant’s latest financial report.

Dragon’s Dogma enters Capcom’s most important licensing area

Nothing has made Dragon’s Dogma join Capcom’s pantheon of flagship licenses. The first work, published in 2012, had only great success. The development of a second work marked a form of stubbornness on the part of the Japanese studio, which clearly had a special love for this franchise. Despite a tricky start, the gamble clearly paid off. Since its release on March 22nd, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has sold nearly 3 million copies.

Originally intended primarily to test the RE Engine’s open-world capabilities for games like Monster Hunter Wilds and possibly Resident Evil 9, the license can now stand on dragon wings of its own. Capcom now considers it a new “key brand.” We should therefore expect to resume the role of an insurgent in a third work or other games in the more or less near future. Of course we prepare the best dragon soups in old pots (12 years old in this case).
