Google seems to want its artificial intelligence to be present in all its products. During the Google I/O 2024 The company announced that it would bring its AI to Google Photos for intelligent searches, Gemini would come to Gmail for Android and also help detect phone scams. In addition, they announced the Astra project, which promises to be the future of the participants.

But the company also has in its projects bring Gemini Nano to Chrome. This is the least powerful and lightest version of Gemini, whose main feature, and even advantage over the rest of the Gemini versions, is that it works locally on the device. This will bring interesting features to the browser, without depending on the cloud.

Google announced that Gemini Nano would come to Chrome from browser version 126. The idea is that the browser can generate text automatically thanks to Gemini’s artificial intelligence, without needing to resort to the cloud: everything runs locally.

Gemini Nano is the version of Google’s AI currently present in the Google Pixel 8 Pro, although it will also come to the Pixel 8. In its mobile version, Gemini Nano can offer much more advanced and precise intelligent responses, context-based and in user activity.

In the case of integrating Gemini Nano into Chrome, Google explains that AI will be able to generate short texts, thanks to the “Help me write” function, which will allow you to use it to, for example, write reviews (or product “reviews”) or even write articles on social networks, among other actions via Chromium. Furthermore, we can expect that it will also be able to perform more tasks in the future.

As we mentioned a few lines ago, Gemini Nano will arrive in Chrome from version 126 (currently the latest stable version available is 124). Google claims to have optimized the browser so that it can load the model much faster. Gemini will also be available to developers through Chrome DevTools.
