The next part of the series takes you to 16th century Japan. Ubisoft released the first information about the game this evening. We summarize everything important for you, including the release date of course.
For a long time, the next part of the Assassin’s Creed series was known as Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red. It was also certain that Japan would be the venue. Tonight, Ubisoft made everything official: Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes you to 16th century Japan, to the historical Azuchi-Momoyama period.
At this time, powerful forces begin to militarily unify Warring States Japan. But new coalitions and corrupt influences from abroad are also causing enormous unrest and uncertainty. In the midst of these conflicts, you play two completely different characters: the experienced shinobi assassin Naoe and the legendary samurai Yasuke. This is a novelty in the series because it actually existed in the era mentioned. Other historical figures will also be part of the game.
In addition to their history and origins, the two protagonists also differ in their fighting styles. While Naoe operates from the shadows, Yasuke attacks his enemies directly. Each character has their own progression path, skills, weapons and stats. Both playing styles should complement each other perfectly.
The game lets you explore a vast open landscape divided into different regions that change with seasons and weather conditions. Everything was developed with the latest version of the Anvil engine, which was already used in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
An important gameplay factor will be the creation of an extensive spy network, which will, among other things, give you new information about the areas and enemies. You can also recruit allies with special skills to help you on various missions. In your self-created and highly customizable hideout, you expand the network and train the crew.
