We have many apps on our phones, so notifications can be overwhelming. This is why it is important to properly manage notifications only receive those who really interest us. But sometimes it might happen that we don’t hear about an important notification just because we don’t feel the vibration or hear the alert sound.
Google knows that this can happen, since the notification vibration can be overshadowed by the sound of our environment or by the vibration we produce while walking, among others. This is why in Android 15 the company has implemented a very interesting function that promises to be useful: the adaptive vibration. And while Private Space is one of the coolest new features in Android 15, Adaptive Vibration is one of the ones I’m most looking forward to.
Google wants you not to miss any notifications from your mobile
I’m someone who’s a bit obsessed with managing notifications. During my free and off-duty hours, I generally silence absolutely all notifications (except phone calls from certain important contacts). But on a daily basis I prefer, and I need, receive really important notifications– My work chat, certain emails, and calendar alerts are good examples.
However, sometimes the vibrations of the mobile are not enough to detect the notification. If I walk down the street you may not feel your phone vibrate in your pocketor if the cell phone is on the sofa, the vibration will not produce the same effect as if it were on a table.
To do this, Google has developed the adaptive vibration function, which, according to the company, the mobile uses “the microphone and different sensors to determine sound levels and context”, and thus adjust the intensity of the vibration of the mobile
This function It is now available in the second public beta of Android 15and can be activated by following these steps:
- Let’s go to the mobile settings menu
- We access the section Sound and vibration
- Then, we press Vibration and vibration by pressing
- Finally, we activate the option “Use adaptive vibration“
Without a doubt, it is a function that promises to be very useful for never miss important notifications. Because no matter how we configure mobile notifications, if we are in the subway or in a square full of people and a lot of noise, this type of situation can make it more difficult to feel the vibration of the cell phone in our pocket when we receive an important message.
This is one of the new features of Android 15 that I most hope will arrive on my Android mobile, once the final and stable version of Android 15 is available to all users. In the meantime, to avoid missing important notifications, I do wear a smart bracelet or smart watch. At least in my case, it’s almost impossible not to feel the vibration of the cell phone on my wrist when I receive an important email or message.
