This is a roguelike, turn-based adventure where survival is anything but guaranteed. While most of our games explore survival horror gameplay from an action-oriented perspective, Outbreak RPG Instead, he approaches this subject from a slower, cerebral perspective.
The premise is simple; Search for survivors from Cypress Ridge as the town falls to a zombie apocalypse. However, in this game you must lead a party of four characters with character-specific strengths and weaknesses to strategically take down deadly enemies. Do you attack with Lydia’s handgun to increase the chance of inflicting serious injuries on monsters, or do you use Hank’s shotgun to injure multiple ghouls with a single shot? Do you spend a turn scavenging for supplies or healing, or do you try to run away from an encounter entirely? Is it best to use a valuable grenade when you run out of ammo, or should you try to down your opponent with a melee attack? These are the questions that you must constantly answer correctly if you want to emerge victorious from the city.
Between random battles, you’ll stumble across events that can help you in battle or even harm your party. The timing of your decisions in and out of combat also affects your initiative, which in turn affects your luck. Rescuing every survivor scattered across Cypress Ridge will earn you benefits ranging from increased health to enhanced weapons. Once you have found all ten civilians, you must complete one final boss encounter and victory is yours! No playthrough of Outbreak RPG
