PlayStation Extra will lose no less than 35 games in the next few days. It’s now or never, especially since there are great classics and great exclusivity.

It’s been almost two years since PS Plus received a facelift. In addition to the three usual “free” games, the service now offers access to two catalogs, which continue to grow as the months go by. The Premium formula focuses exclusively on their retro games, while the Extra formula offers a little bit of everything: day one releases, classics from recent years and great independent productions. The publisher recently broke its routine by offering three indie games as part of the April lineup right after their release. This month, all bets are on the return of Red Dead Redemption 2, but even such a masterpiece struggles to overcome the pill. The May 2024 PS Plus Extra releases are indeed real carnage.

35 games removed from PS Plus Extra

13 new products with 35 departures, the ratio is worrying. Sony announced the color a few weeks ago by announcing that about twenty games would be leaving the catalog, before announcing about ten more. Titles added to the unfortunate outgoing titles include: the exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn. It obviously didn’t take much more to fuel rumors of a possible remake of Aloy’s first adventures, but even if that were all.

RPG lovers will also have to do without cult games starting next week. Seven games from the Final Fantasy license are leaving the PS Plus Extra starting this Tuesday, May 21st. This ranges from the classics of the PS1 (FF8, FF9), to those of the PS2 (FFX) to FF15 and the cute spin-off World of Final Fantasy. Square Enix won’t be the only one doing some spring cleaning, as Devolver and Annapurna Interactive will also be removing some productions. Here are all the games coming to PS Plus Extra next Tuesday:

A handful of new games to compensate

Apparently a handful of new games will be released on the same day to compensate for all of these departures. There are fewer of them than many subscribers would have hoped, but with Red Dead Redemption 2 at the top of the list, the pleasure is hard to deny. As far as major licenses go, the nostalgic (and most adventurous) can dive back into Watch Dogs when simulation enthusiasts are entitled to a massive DLC for The Sims 4. You can find the list of 13 additions to PS Plus Extra and Premium below. They will all be available from May 21, 2024, around 11 a.m. French time.
