Eric “ConcernedApe” Burrow is definitely feeling some pressure from fan expectations The haunted chocolatierbut it’s not too heavy for him.
Back in 2021, Barone released Haunted Chocolatier, the second game from the critically acclaimed indie developer, and it’s been over two years since its release (no, I don’t know how long it’s been either), But it hasn’t really been demonstrated in practice yet. a lot of. There are a few screenshots here and there, but most fans have been busy with Stardew Valley’s recent 1.6 update. However, in a recent interview with Aftermath, Barone talked about what’s next for this update, including some discussion of haunted chocolate.

“[Fan expectation] It does stress me out, but it’s better to delay a game that’s actually good than to launch a terrible game on time,” Barone said of working on Haunted Chocolatier. “When it’s ready, I will publish it. I don’t worry too much about stress. I don’t feel like I owe anyone anything when it comes to haunted chocolate. This is the game I decided to make. I don’t need to do this. ”
Of course, it seems part of the reason we haven’t seen more of Haunted Chocolate is because when Barrow started working on new stuff for Stardew, he found it hard to stop. “It wasn’t necessarily something that was planned,” Barone said of the pause in Haunted Chocolate’s development due to the Stardew update. “I was like, ‘I can’t just release a technical update because if I say there’s a new Stardew Valley update and there’s actually no new content, I feel like people are going to be disappointed.’ So initially it was just Desert Festival, But I had a problem, once I started, I couldn’t stop, ‘Oh, this would be really cool to add.’
As you probably know, there’s no word yet on when Haunted Chocolatier will be released, and only a PC version has been confirmed, so you’ll have to keep waiting to hear more.
