In the gameplay video you can see four minutes of Songs of Conquest: We recruit new troops and then fight a short battle against a neutral army on the world map to gain access to the tower behind it. If you have ever played Heroes of Might and Magic 3 or another part of the venerable series, a lot of it will seem very familiar to you. But as our test shows, Songs of Conquest is a good game even without the nostalgia bonus. The gameplay is simply timeless. However, the indie game also does some things differently, such as the magic system. There is also no longer a city screen; instead, all buildings will be built directly on the world map. The crucial question in the end is: do you like the 2D pixel look?
