Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction was released as a two-part movie in Japan, but Crunchyroll announced that its international release will be as a series.
Sorry for those hoping that the first animated adaptation of the work of critically acclaimed manga artist Io Asano would be released in Western cinemas, but yesterday Crunchyroll announced that it will be releasing two Dead Dead Demons Dededede Destruction movies , a total of 18 episodes long series. The only bad news is that you can’t watch it in theaters, as most Western releases come with good news. For one, the show will include new footage that has not been shown in theaters. For the two of them, the series will be launching soon—very soon, actually, since it’s set to hit the anime streaming service this week (Thursday, May 24).

On top of that, the film’s theme, “ZeZeZeZettai Seiiki,” will also be part of a “new TV version” of Dead Dead Demons, according to a press release. This particular song is sung by ano and Lilas Ikuta, who you may recognize as the singer from the seventh ending of Chainsaw Man. More importantly, she played Oran Nakagawa in Dead Dead Demons, one of the two leads. Ikuta should also be a familiar voice to many, as she is a member of Yoasobi, the group behind the opening theme songs for anime such as Shinobi: Son of Shinobi, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, and Mobile Suit Gundam Witch Gundam group. She will play another protagonist Xiao Shanjiao.

The production team also has talented people. The film is directed by Tomoyuki Kurokawa, who is famous for the “Psycho” series, and the screenwriter is Reiko Yoshida, who has participated in the creation of the “Violet Evergarden” series and “The Shape of Sound”.
