Crytek is apparently fed up with the old generation consoles with Hunt: Showdown. The PS4 and Xbox One will end in the summer of 2024, but that also has good sides.
Crytek apparently wants to bring the still successful Hunt: Showdown into the next generation. As the developers announced, support for the old consoles PS4 and Xbox One will be discontinued from August 15th. In other words, the game will no longer be playable on these consoles from then on.
But don’t panic, Crytek is offering owners of the old versions a free update to the PS5 and Xbox Series versions. The reason for the measure is, however, quite positive, because Crytek apparently wants to give the shooter a comprehensive relaunch with a major update that is supposed to take the game to a “whole new level”.
“Once this is live and running natively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles,” explains Crytek’s David Fifield, “you won’t be able to play at all on the older generations of consoles and will have to upgrade.”
The upgrade to the new generation will be available free of charge from August 15th, i.e. parallel to the end of the old versions. Fifield points out that the player accounts and permissions as well as all associated DLCs will be transferred. So you won’t lose anything. Hopefully.
The August update for Hunt: Showdown promises a CryEngine 5.11 upgrade, a new event, a new map, a new biome, and more. The developers want to announce further features in the form of videos before the update is launched.
