Three variants of the Galaxy Book4 Edge have been announced. The non-Pro model will be available in 14 and 16 inches. The Pro variant is only available in 16 inches. This comes with one terabyte of storage, which is 512 gigabytes for the normal Galaxy Book4 Edge. All models offer 16 gigabytes of RAM and come in Sapphire Blue.

Pros and Cons of On-Device AI with the Galaxy Book4 Edge

On-device AI has several advantages. Firstly, as already mentioned, no internet connection is required. This has the side effect that your data is more secure. Furthermore, the delay that occurs when sending and receiving via the cloud disappears. Routine and simple requests should therefore be processed more quickly.

However, for computationally intensive requests, on-device AI could mean that they are processed more slowly if the performance of the Snapdragon X Elite is significantly lower than the performance that would be provided by the cloud. In this case, the hybrid approach will probably be used and the request will be processed cloud-based.

But Samsung still has an ace up its sleeve. The Galaxy Book4 Edge should be able to connect to compatible Galaxy devices, presumably all with Galaxy AI or Windows Copilot. These devices should then be able to partially use the power of the Book4 Edge for their own AI functions, which would normally be processed via the cloud.
