Distinguishing whether an app is available on Google Play is not easy at first, although you can get a good idea of its popularity from the start number of downloads and your school. These two details are now visible when you search.
Ever since Google Play began showing app size in its list four years ago, the details displayed have been constantly changing and flexible. This last change should make It's easy to distinguish malicious and non-invasive applications, at least in practice.
Download, very visible
When downloading apps from Google Play, it is important to be careful not to download misleading applications, over promotions or malware directly. This is very important when searching, because you are open for final clicking – and downloading – the app is not what you think it is. Like Disney + fake apps from the screenshot above.
The changes introduced on Google Play are obvious, but useful. Now, the listing that appears when doing a search shows the name of the app, its developer, category, average rating and download number. This should make it easier to sort malicious developers who have just started the app with the same name, but have fewer downloads.
This data comes from search only, the rest of the list goes on just as it was so far. The category or app listing from the same developer only shows the average rating and not the download or size, at least for now.
Currently the change is only available in the Google Play app and the website remains the same. I hope it helps you to be better information about the app at a glance, without having to go in to see its full details.
