It seemed like a market limited to the Nintendo Switch, but in recent months we have seen an increase in the supply of handheld consoles in the market. Without a doubt, the best known are the ASUS ROG Ally and the Steam Deck, but the offer on the market is quite wide. Now we add the ZONE Zotachence the complete specifications.
The strength of the Nintendo Switch portable console lies in its vast gaming ecosystem. It offers a large catalog of games for all tastes and all ages, as well as different titles for playing collectively or playing sports.
The first to target the portable console market was Valve with its highly successful Steam Deck. ASUS, Logitech or Lenovo are just some of the companies that have signed up. Note that these consoles are very different, since they allow you to enjoy PC games.
Zotac joins the portable console market
You may know Zotac primarily from its Mini PCs or VR-focused laptops. The truth is that the company also offers motherboards, graphics cards and many other different solutions. Today, the company is entering the portable console market.
Its first portable console is called Zotac ZONE, and we now know all of its specifications. For starters, it has a Ryzen 7 8840U APU with 8 cores and 16 threads that can reach a frequency of 5.1 GHz. The processor integrates an AMD Radeon 780M graphics card made up of 12 calculation units and a frequency of 2.7 GHz.
It has a total of 16GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM, which would be the minimum currently required for gaming. For storage, a 512 GB M.2 SSD has been provided, which is not bad. We do not know, at the moment, if this console will integrate an M.2 PCIe 2230 port, like the other models.
Another interesting aspect is the screen, which has a size of 7 inches and is AMOLED type. This screen offers us a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, as well as a maximum brightness of 800 nits.
Connectivity has been partially revealed. We know that it will have at least one USB4 port and a UHS-II microSD card reader. We don’t talk about the rest of the connectivity, but it should support Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
One aspect that catches our attention is the battery, which is 48.5 Wh, with an estimated autonomy of around an hour and a half. The truth is that the battery is the weakest point of this portable console.
On the contrary, the console will use the Windows 11 operating system, so we will be able to access any video game store on the market. In addition, we can use all kinds of applications typical of a laptop, but with the battery limitation.
Zotac ZONE will be presented at Computex 2024, which begins next week. According to the leak, the launch will take place in the third quarter of this year. The price is not specified, but due to its characteristics it should be around 600 dollars.
