Google has released the latest Android Feature Drop with some of the new features that will be coming to the operating system. Among the new functions we find two that will be very useful to users. users who have multiple deviceswhether it’s mobile phones, tablets or even Chromebooks.
One of these features makes it easy to move a Google Meet call from one device to another, without having to hang up the call to resume it on another device. The other new feature allows you to share your mobile’s internet connection via hotspot without having to enter the password.
Google wants to make life easier for people with multiple Android devices and Chromebooks
The new features are part of Google’s “Better Together” initiative, with which the company seeks to improve the experience for users of multiple devices.
In the case of Call casting, the idea is to allow users that if they are on a Google Meet call and want to switch to another device to, for example, have a larger screen, they will be able to do so without having to hang up the call on the device. they use to rejoin another, with a simple and friendly interface to make the process easier for the user. The company previously announced this feature for Google Meet, but is now adding support on Android.
This is similar to what can be done in the Apple ecosystem, since it allows transferring a call from an iPhone to a Mac in FaceTime with a simple and intuitive process.
The second new feature is Internet Sharing, a function that allows you to immediately connect to a hotspot initiated by the user on one of their devices, no need to enter a password. For example, if we start a hotspot connection with our mobile phone, we can access this connection with an Android tablet or Chromebook, provided that they are our property and that we have logged in with the same Google account. Additionally, Bluetooth connection must be enabled on both devices.
Both functions will be available under Android 15 in the system settings menu, within the Google section, in the “Devices and sharing” section. In this menu we can see the list of devices configured like ours and also enable or disable use of cross-device serviceswhich allow you to carry out the actions that we detail in this article.
The new features will be available in the future for devices running Android 11 or higher OS version.
