Silent Hill 2 Remake gives us its release date and reveals a long gameplay sequence. It’s a cold shower, but there’s some good stuff, some very good stuff nonetheless.
Silent Hill 2 Remake is one of the most anticipated games of this year. A cult title that Bloober Team will take over (The medium, Layers of fear). When it was announced, the game caused quite a stir among the countless Silent Hill projects, it must be said that the aura is quite enormous. Except that the game’s second presentation, which focused on action, had clearly raised goosebumps. Today, during this month’s State of Play in May 2024, followed by a longer gameplay presentation during a special event, Silent Hill 2 returned to present itself with a big announcement under its arm, its release date. And fans or not, it’s a cold shower.
Silent Hill 2 Remake emerges from the fog… and it’s scary
We had a feeling it would reach the size of a truck and unfortunately the gameplay sequence seems to confirm this. Silent Hill 2 Remake is not a technical benchmark, and even seems to be outdatedespecially in terms of the animations. Fortunately, the atmosphere seems to be there, although switching to third-person perspective could change the experience significantly, that remains to be seen. Regardless, the reactions from live fans during the presentation were a little stinging, many seem to be disappointed to be honest. After that, it’s far too early to jump to conclusions, so we’ll wait until we have the game in hand.
The atmosphere still seems depressed
Especially since there seem to be some good things in this remake. The already heavy atmosphere is well reproduced by what we have seen. The sound design alone shows us that the work was carried out with the utmost careAnd inside, the decorations seem quite convincing. The design of the creatures, especially the nurses, is also quite successful. The gameplay reveals to us several sequences in different places in the game, outside in the fog or even in a hospital looking for a young girl. Our hero will also have to deal with an ugly creature locked in a cage… Horrors… we will see some.
A release date and early bonuses!
Silent Hill 2 Remake is definitely planned for the end of the year. The game will be released on October 8, 2024 on PS5, but also on PC. Pre-orders will be available soon and Konami has already announced several versions of its game, a standard edition of course, but also a deluxe version with bonuses such as early access or even skins for the main character. You still have to want to walk around with a pink bunny head or a pizza box on your face…
