There are already plenty of PC and console controllers from SCUF, but now the manufacturer is venturing into the mobile sector and is bringing its first example, the Nomad, onto the market.
There are already a few mobile controllers, but not many good ones. SCUF wants to jump into this area with the Nomad and give established competition like the Razer Kishi V2 a run for its money. And at first glance, what the announcement says doesn’t sound bad.
What is unusual is that the SCUF Nomad comes with full-size thumbsticks and not the usual mini sticks. The sticks are also equipped with drift-inhibiting Hall effect components, which is certainly a plus point in terms of durability. The arrangement of the action buttons takes a little getting used to, but the ergonomics of the Nomad are designed to use the paddles on the bottom, which means that the action buttons do not necessarily have to be used.
The Nomad connects to iOS devices via Bluetooth; a physical connection to the smartphone via Lightning or Type-C is not required. The battery life of the SCUF Nomad is stated to be up to 16 hours. Charging is done via a Type-C charging cable.
There is also a free companion app for the Nomad. Among other things, this allows you to start games directly via the app, adjust and save controller assignments and also assign them to specific games so that the profile is loaded with the appropriate settings as soon as the game starts. The app also allows you to record and share highlights. The setting options are quite extensive and include not only the button assignments, but also stick sensitivity and trigger paths.
It is quite interesting that the flexible holder is also designed so that you can use your smartphones with protective covers or cases. The SCUF Nomad is now available in SCUF-Store It is available for a price of 119.99 dollars and the expected delivery date is 8 July.
