The Summer Game Fest is just around the corner and the rumor mill is at maximum operating temperature. Among other things, fans are hoping for fresh material on Kingdom Hearts IV. But this hope could be in vain, at least according to someone who should know.
You have to let that sink in: It’s been two years since Kingdom Hearts IV was announced. We know that the setting of Quadratum is similar to the Japanese metropolis of Tokyo in many ways and a new character, Strelitzia, has been confirmed. Apart from that, information about the JRPG is scarce.

This makes fans even more hopeful for news at the Summer Game Fest. This starts on Friday night at 11:00 p.m. German time with a big event. Over the entire weekend, figurehead Geoff Keighley promises new trailers, announcements and more.
But this same Geoff Keighley has now also dashed fans’ hopes for fresh information on Kingdom Hearts IV. At least he made the following statement in a pre-stream for the Summer Game Fest: “People keep asking about Kingdom Hearts, I don’t know why… People are setting themselves up to fail, but of course you people can keep hoping.”
Of course, this is not a definitive cancellation of Kingdom Hearts IV at the Summer Game Fest, but reading between the lines it seems as if we shouldn’t get our hopes up too much.
Not good news for fans. But at least they can look forward to the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts 3 including Re Mind DLC on Steam. The games will be released on Valve’s distribution platform on June 13, 2024.
