First trailer Venom 3 Now, much like the first two movies, it looks silly, a little cheesy, and probably not very good, but that’s exactly why I’m excited.
See. I know the first two Venom movies weren’t particularly good, and the second one in particular was a bit of a mess, but it also featured the eponymous symbiote (a sentient giant Hulk (no pun intended)) basically showing up at a party full of gay people and being accepted. So, yeah, I loved both Venom movies, and I’m excited to see that Venom 3 or Venom: The Last Dance don’t look like they’ll be amazing movies either. But who cares when this movie leans completely into the weirdness between Venom and loser Eddie Brock, especially when the trailer description literally reads “until death do them part.” Eddie and Venom are clearly in love, and I’m glad to see enough people at Sony get that.
In Venom 3, the pair of bumbling idiots are on the run, hiding from what looks to be the military or government, but who knows what (led by Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays the villain this time around), because Venom is an alien, and they don’t like that. To make matters worse, more aliens from Venom’s home planet appear to be heading to Earth, though some of them are Ridley Scott’s giant alien monsters rather than just different colored goo. Stephen Graham returns as Detective Mulligan, who’s still infected by his own symbiote, so it’s clear that the plot of Venom: Let There Be Carnage is going to be important. However, there’s no indication that Tom Hardy’s brief presence in the MCU will have any impact.

You may remember the post-credits scene of Let There Be Carnage bringing Eddie into the Marvel Universe, but his involvement in the Spider-Man multiverse movie No Way Home ended up being a post-credits scene as well, primarily to bring the symbiote into Tom Holland’s Spider-World. It’s worth noting that The Last Dance will also be the final film in the Venom trilogy, though we may still end up seeing more of the character in spinoffs produced by Insomniac.
Venom: The Last Dance is set to hit theaters on October 25.
