24 hours with the new Huawei P40

hours, Huawei, P40

The Huawei P40 range is now official as Tuawei has launched, after numerous leaks, the P40, P40 Pro and P40 Pro + at the launch event and to broadcast. Although the P40 Pro and Pro + have excellent features like OverFlow display, quad and quintuple camera setup and 40W wireless charging, the standard P40 has a lot to offer as I can see it being used smartphone 24 hours ago

This is my first Huawei P40 display: good, big and disappointing.

How beautiful you are

The Huawei P40 is an excellent phone, no doubt, because of its combination of glass and aluminum that is outstanding in other models such as Samsung Galaxy S20. On the front, you'll find a 6.1 ”light screen with two camera holes, and, though noteworthy, the bezels surround the smaller panel than the iPhone 11's.

But the phone call was a surprise. The Huawei P40 is available in Silver Frosh and Blush Gold, new finishes that finish off the matte finish in the glass back. But that's not a simple matte finish: Huawei has designed a matte back and reflects that, so you'll see what your surroundings look like.

Oh, and in that we must add that a smooth finish prevents your fingers from being marked.

It's hard to find the words, as you may have noticed, which is why I recommend you see mine not to write for Huawei P40 to get an idea of what I mean. Both the P40 and P40 Pro have the same Silver Frost and Blush Gold coins, as well as the classic glass finish in Ice White, Black and Deep Sea Blue in case the matte finish doesn't convince you.

But while P40 is a smartphone It's so cute, it's not as impressive as the P40 Pro and P40 Pro + does thanks to its OverFlow screen. I understand that standard models and Pro models should be separated in some way, so I can leave it aside, but that it is a portable phone with a screen at 60 Hz – not 90 Hz like the other two – is more difficult to accept.

Powerful camera

Obviously, I can't talk about the P40 without referring to the camera mass. It's nice and annoying at the same time: that huge bulge means that the phone will not directly affect the table space and will improve, but the texture and feel it gives you when you look down make it really attractive.

Just a little detail, and something you can't quite see if you don't know it's there, but it's undoubtedly one of my favorites, and the fact that the rear camera system is adapted to the same full-resolution module than that from other competitors. The good thing is that the lawsuit should resolve this insecurity, even though I have not been able to confirm it yet.

The mass is there for a very good reason: the P40 has the same 50 MP RYYB lens as the P40 Pro and Pro +, which Huawei claims to be the largest and most advanced sensor ever. smartphone of the current market. It should absorb more light and provide greater dynamic range and less noise.

From what I've seen in the last 24 hours, this is especially true. The photos I took with the 50 MP rear sensor are very detailed and well lit even in rough terrain. The newly launched Octa PD AutoFocus provides instant focus, allowing you to take photos of moving subjects such as children and animals without blurring. In addition, there doesn't appear to be any delay in using the trigger, something related to the installation of chipset Kirin 99-5G and 8GB of RAM.

The P40 also features a 16 MP wide-angle lens and an 8 MP x3 telephoto lens with OIS to enhance stability when zooming. Though not compared to the quad and quintuple cameras of the Pro P40 models, they still have great power.

And how about apps?

Huawei has gained a lot with its AppGallery since May 2019, when it lost access to Google Play services. The store itself is well built and the installation of the app is almost instant thanks to Huawei's technology in communications technology. And while the most important Android apps are still lacking, they are improving. You can now download apps like Amazon Shopping, Microsoft Office and Snapchat, and it is possible to use other stores such as the Amazon Appstore or sites like APKMirror to install apps that are not yet available on AppGallery.

If you have an Android phone, you can use the Huawei Phone Clone app to transfer P40 compatible apps, even if they're not available on AppGallery. It's not a good solution, because you won't be able to easily update the apps you've transferred over the Phone Clone or downloaded online, but an option for those who want to use their favorite apps on their Huawei P40.

In short

So far I really liked the Huawei P40: very good design, especially the Silver Frost finish; cameras (mostly 50 MP sensors) that take detailed pictures; and its amazing performance whatever you do. But it's not elegant the premium is perfect, because it lacks the essential features such as wireless charging, quad cameras and quintuple P40 Pro and Pro + cameras or a curved screen that Huawei recently used in its Mate and P ranges.

It will all depend on the price, and that's something Richard Yu took with a lot of hiding until the press conference, so I can't say much about the value of mobile money. In the meantime, I will continue to use it for the next two weeks and write a to review Finish, so don't miss my full view on the Huawei P40 soon.
