Monster Hunter Wilds: Fans want a curious feature

Curious, Fans, feature, Hunter, Monster, Wilds

At the State of Play last week, Capcom had a fresh trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds in store and fans like it for many reasons. One of them is now making the community want a rather unusual feature for the hunting game.

The new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds, which was released at the State of Play, features a number of new characters. Among them is Gemma, the blacksmith of the research commission. As is typical for the series, she makes new weapons and armor for you, and you can also improve your equipment with the good lady.

But all these useful services are not the reason why the Monster Hunter community has declared Gemma their favorite in such a short time. Rather, people in the community like her design and many see her as a “waifu”, i.e. their new virtual wife.

This may seem bizarre to some of you, but pixel crushes are part of today’s video game landscape. In the case of Gemma and Monster Hunter Wilds, however, it has now gone one step further. Fans are requesting a curious new feature: dating.

Capcom of course stated straight away that it was a classic Monster Hunter, dating had never been part of the series and would not be part of Wilds either. But the community was not going to put up with that and chose an interesting path: They tagged the title on Steam as a “Dating Simulation”. If enough people assign this genre, it will even appear on the official shop page.

Capcom, of course, was only partially happy with this and the dating sim tag has since disappeared from Monster Hunter Wilds. Either way, the love for Gemma shouldn’t hurt the game. Because if the two sentences in the trailer are enough to generate such a storm of enthusiasm, things can only get better when it’s released.
