It has been almost three years since Arcanethe Netflix animated series inspired by the global MOBA hit from Riot Games League of Legendshas been released and fans are dying for more. Fortunately, the long-awaited Second season is finally in sight, with a Release window in November. And we got a new (brief) insight.
With season 2 only a few months away from premiering, we’ve seen very little of the project so far. Thanks to a new teaser from Netflix, we now have about 15 seconds more footage than before. It’s not a lot, but it’s enough to get fans excited again.
The new footage appears in a Promotional video from Netflix Highlighting the streaming platform’s upcoming animation projects. The video itself is about three minutes long and includes some clips from Arcane but the new footage appears at 2:39. The highlight of the short teaser is our first look at what the protagonist duo Caitlyn and Vi will look like in season 2. The footage shows the two in a line with other characters, all of whom are Enforcers (the name of the police department of the city of Piltover).
Caitlyn’s new look is just a slight twist on her appearance in Season 1, which makes sense since she was also an enforcer back then – how much can a uniform change? The highlights of her new look are a white beret, a red ribbon around her neck, and black pants. She looks much more commanding than the young enforcer we saw before, so she could be leading a special task force.
Vi sports a whole new look and an Enforcer uniform, complete with her signature gauntlets as well as a more heavily armored shoulder part of the jacket. Vi becoming an Enforcer makes sense considering what she is League of Legendsbut in the context of Arcaneit’s still a weird feeling to see it. Overall, she looks so uncomfortable in the clothes of a cop, and who can blame her considering she grew up in the Undercity under their cruel, authoritarian rule, the very thing that made her distrust Caitlyn at the beginning of the first season. Who knows if she’ll be able to wear the new clothes for long?
As for the other three characters we see in the new footage, both appear to be original characters. Arcane, not directly taken from League of Legends. That could spell trouble for them, as it gives the series more room to make their fate less good. The full cast seems to support the idea of a special forces unit led by Caitlyn. Given the cliffhanger ending of season 1 – in which we see Jinx launch a missile directly at the Piltover Council – the gang will surely have plenty of new problems to deal with.
