We’re on the verge of one of the most important Apple events of the year and these are the latest rumors about iOS 18
In just a few hours, Apple has scheduled the inaugural WWDC24 conference and the company will present new operating systems for all its devices, including iOS 18 for iPhone. And in recent days, important last-minute leaks have appeared about the possible new features that we will see on the iPhone thanks to iOS 18.
The truth is that at this point we already know many new features of iOS 18 that some have called one of the most important updates in recent years. AI will be everywhere, although we will also have many hours of improvements.
New Control Center on iPhone
We know that the design of iOS 18 will be changed in several waysFor example, we can place icons with empty spaces between them for the first time in iPhone history. But it also looks like we’re going to get a major overhaul of the Control Center, which hasn’t been changed in many years.
As confirmed by Mark Gurman, the iOS 18 Control Center will change the music playback widget and we will also have improvements to the way our smart home accessories appear connected to HomeKit. We’ll see how the music widget changes, as it could completely change the look of the Control Center.
Effects in the Messages app
There Messages app may have many new features in iOS 18. On the one hand, Apple should make it compatible with RCS technology, making it easier to send messages with Android smartphones. But Messages should also be one of those with the greatest number of artificial intelligence functions, being able to respond for us or summarize the conversation for us.
It is expected that Apple improves Messages app with new text effects, which would add to the current effects we have in iMessage. Apple could also add formatting options in bold, italic and underlinedlike we did in other popular messaging apps.
Redesigned iPhone Settings section
Over the years The iPhone Settings app has filled up with different sections and is becoming more and more extensive, so much so that it is really difficult to find where to change certain settings. And it is for this reason that Apple is considering giving it a new design in iOS 18.
This information comes once again from Mark Gurman who ensures that the iOS 18 Settings app will have a “rearranged, cleaner design”, although he didn’t say much more. This redesign will also extend to the Settings app in iPadOS 18 and macOS 15.
News in the Mail app
It looks like the Mail app will get major improvements thanks to new AI capabilities. These improvements include a More powerful search, generative smart replies, and email composition assistance. AI appears to be present in a multitude of iPhone applications.
New app dedicated to passwords
In the iPhone Settings application we have a section dedicated to passwords from which we can access all the applications stored in our iCloud keychain. And it seems that both iOS 18, like macOS 15 and iPadOS 18, will include a dedicated Passwords app. The app will have different categories for accounts, Wi-Fi networks and passkeys.
