Summer Game Fest 2024 puts on a show, while two major events showcased more than a hundred games! The Guerilla Collective and Wholesome Direct really pulled out all the stops this year, it’s amazing!
Since there is more to life than just AAA or AAAA (hello Ubi), the Summer Game Fest 2024 period is also the perfect opportunity to broaden your horizons a little. The independent scene shines every day alongside the industry giants and there is no shortage of gems. In addition, most of the viral games that break records overnight on Steam come from the independent scene. A sector that is sometimes described as the “den of small games” and that unfortunately is not always highlighted as it should be.

Fortunately, there are events dedicated exclusively to them. If lovers certainly don’t need it to follow their favorite hits, initiatives such as the Guerrilla Collective or the Wholesome Direct are great for putting them in the spotlight and thus attracting a wider audience. During this period of the Summer Game Fest, two major events took place. More than 4.5 hours of streaming were devoted to more than a hundred games presented and/or announced. It is impossible to avoid it because it is a real festival. There you will find everything from action games, Metroidvania, adventure RPGs, but also horror with a whole series of games with the good vibes of Silent Hill 2 like Hollow body or Post-traumatic stress disorder seen at Guerilla Collective on June 6th.
We also had many automation games like the very good Chocolate factoryhalfway between Satisfactory and Charlie and the Chocolate FactoryBut it is mainly the cozy and/or poetic games that win the prize. Titles like the already incredible Summerabsolutely sublime, or even Garden of the Sea which will soon be released for the Switch.

The Guerilla Collective 2024 always presented itself with class and was really full of announcements. Games from the independent scene that try out new concepts or use trends to stand out.
