At home, absolutely all the cell phones we use have a case, whether they cost us 100 or a thousand dollars. Although the main reason for use is to avoid possible shocks, scratches or damage to the devices in general, there are occasions where the grip is improved and in general they are also better preserved with continued use, because as the days go by, they are normally exposed to dirt, dust or, directly, to finger grease. Yeah, a cell phone with a less stained case.
Paradoxically, the case also allows dirt to accumulate in certain points where the phone is in contact with the environment, such as the charging, microphone and earphone holes, as well as in nooks and crannies of the design such as the buttons lateral. Because even though the case prevents grease, if you (accidentally) pour a glass of soda on a cell phone with a case or drop it in the sand, something will happen and it will stay there. This can be easily checked by simply removing the cover. Regardless, this is neither the first nor the last time I am experiencing a hard button on my Android.
It has never happened to me that it is so stuck that it does not work, but it has happened that the feeling of pressure is not like the first day, you have to press more or more times to obtain its effect. Accumulated dirt is to blame. Fortunately, what is normal is that it is a reversible path and we can recover this button so that it works with the fluidity of the beginning. This is how I do it.
How to get your phone’s side button back to nimbleness
First, a paragraph. This solution works when sticky liquid builds up (soda is the best example), dust or dirt in general, but if the blockage is more extreme and the button has become unusableconsider taking it to tech support, but try this first.
The first thing is Remove the cover and see if there are any traces, whether in the button itself, its outline or in the frame that integrates it into the mobile, which can give us a clue. Then turn it off just in case.
From here you will need a a soft cloth or lint-free chamois and a cleaning formula, I have sometimes used water with a few drops of alcohol, but the best is to use 70% isopropyl alcohol or 75% ethyl alcohol.
Now it’s a matter of moistening the cloth with a few drops of cleaning product and, placing your finger where we poured the liquid, rub strongly at the level of the button and the frame, sliding up and down along the frame and pressing so that it acts on the whole, ensuring that we clean not only the surface, but also the surroundings. Below these lines you can see how to scrub:

Although we added little liquid, the best thing to do is to do it with the phone vertically or slightly tilted so that the liquid does not penetrate. I insist several times and push to make the trip normal and complete use of the button, so that you fully regain your mobility. Then I let it dry, put the lid back on and turn it on.
