Expectations were high for Microsoft’s Xbox Games Showcase this year, the first summer event since the $68.7 billion merger of Activision Blizzard and Microsoft in 2023. “It’s the biggest moment of the year to show you the future of gaming with Xbox,” Xbox Wire editor Joe Skrebels wrote in a press release before the event.
The Xbox Games Showcase included a number of games from Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda, Xbox Game Studios and third-party developers. Immediately after the broadcast, Microsoft and Activision dedicated the second block of their own showcase Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on October 25th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. It will also be available for Xbox Game Pass on release day.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Microsoft and id Software debuted Doom: The Dark Agesthat takes the Doom Slayer back in time. It will be released on Xbox Game Pass on release day, which is expected to be sometime in 2025. The trailer showed all the good things you’d expect from a Doom game – plus what looks like the Doom Slayer riding a dragon.
State of Decay 3
State of Decay 3 takes place “years” after the zombie apocalypse and follows State of Decay 2. The game’s latest trailer, first released in 2020, gives a taste of what to expect from the title, but there is no release date yet.
Dragon Age: Veilguard
The new Dragon Age: Veilguard The trailer set the tone for the upcoming game and showed off a group of allies you can expect to see when the game releases, coming in 2024.
Starfield: Shattered Space (and more)
StarfieldThe first expansion focuses on the spookiness of space and will be released in 2024 for consoles and PC. Starfield also receives a smaller update with new bounties and other content created by Bethesda and the Starfield community.
Fallout76
Fallout76 is getting a new update, Skyline Valley, where Vault Dwellers can play as a Ghoul in early 2025. It’s a new region of the Appalachian Mountains with lots of new secrets. It’s coming out on June 12th and will once again be available day one on Game Pass.
Light-Dark: Expedition 33
Light-Dark: Expedition 33 is the debut game from Sandfall Interactive. It looks like a role-playing game in which you have to save humanity from certain destruction. It will be released in 2025 on Xbox Series X.
South of Midnight
Microsoft and Compulsion Games will finally reveal more about what South of Midnight actually is. From the makers of We lucky few, South of Midnight is a beautifully stylized game set in a fantasy swamp after a hurricane and will be released in 2025 for Xbox consoles and Windows PCs.
World of Warcraft: The War Within
On August 26, Blizzard will release World of Warcraft‘s next expansion, The war within“Now, at the beginning of a new saga, darkness calls from the heart of the world,” Blizzard wrote on YouTube.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of 2004 Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It is expected to have a “more modern control style” while showcasing the game’s original story and world. There is no release date.
Sea of Thieves
Sea of Thieves’ Season 13 will be released on July 25th, when you can become an evil pirate—a villain!—on the high seas.
Flintock: The Siege of the Dawn
Flintock: The Siege of the Dawn will be released on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs on July 18. From the makers of Ashenthe game is an “explosive Souls-Lite” with a lot of “god-slaying action RPG” gameplay.
Age of Mythology: Retold
Age of Mythologyfrom the makers of Age of Empiresis more than just history: It spans mythology and the worlds of “gods, monsters, and humans.” It will be released on Xbox Series X and Windows PC on September 4.
Perfect darkness
Perfect darkness is back! It is the first look at Perfect darknessThe gameplay has been great since the announcement and it has not disappointed. There is no release date.
Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred
This October there is a new character class, region and story Diablo4 with the Vessel of Hate Expansion. Blizzard Entertainment unveiled the opening cinematic during the Xbox Games Showcase – an emotional, devastating and gruesome return to the world of Diablo.

Microsoft showed a cheeky trailer for Fable, which is expected to be released in 2025. Unfortunately, there is no release date for this yet.
Fragpunk
Fragpunk is a 5v5 shooter with a special feature: cards. It will be released in 2025.
Winter construction
A game about a little mouse who returns home to find devastation while building a new home and searching for her aunt. Just a little guy who appears in the year 2025.
Mixtape
From the makers of The Artful Escape, Mixtape is a mysterious coming-of-age story told through music. It is expected in 2025.
Microsoft Flight Simulator
Become a commercial pilot in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024or work in agriculture, search and rescue, cargo transport or aerial firefighting. Take to the skies on November 19.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road
For The Elder Scrolls OnlineFor its 10th anniversary, Microsoft releases Goldstrasse on June 18th.
Life is strange: double exposure
The next installment in the Life is Strange series is a switch between realities, again starring Max Caulfield. She has promised never to use her power again – but now she must save her friend. The title will be released on October 29th for Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Finally, a look at Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. There’s a boulder! It will be released in 2024 for Windows PC and Xbox Series X – but no official release date.
Mecha break
It’s not a Gundam, but it looks like one! It’s coming out in August.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Announced at the Xbox Games Showcase, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is a Soulslike game set in the late Ming Dynasty. It will be released on Xbox Game Pass on day one in 2025.
Confessors
“Explore the Living Lands, a mysterious island full of adventure and danger,” Microsoft described Confessors on YouTube. “As an envoy from Aedyr, you are sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague whose secret threatens to destroy everything.” Coming in 2024.
Nuclear case
Nuclear case is a single-player survival game set in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster in the UK. It will be released in 2025 for Windows PC and Xbox Series X.
Assassin’s Creed Shadow
Assassin’s Creed Shadow is the next installment in the cult series and will be released on Xbox consoles and Windows PCs on November 15th. The first look at the game’s gameplay is promising.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl
GSC Game World from Ukraine will be released on September 5th. The developer describes the game as a “huge, limitless open world and a non-linear story”.
New Xbox Series X consoles
There is now an Xbox Series X with 2TB SSD, a digital-only Xbox Series X with 1TB SSD, and an Xbox Series X with 1TB SSD.
Gears of War: E-Day
Gears of War: E-Day looks as brutal as ever, but the trailer also showed some touching moments of teamwork and camaraderie, despite a world in chaos. It’s the sixth installment in the franchise, but there’s no release date yet.
