Following a brief preview at the Xbox Showcase yesterday, Ubisoft Forward has released a hands-on demo of Assassin’s Creed: Shadow, and as part of that we got to see some new footage of the stealth action game.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is, of course, Ubisoft’s big fall release and one of two big games released this year; the other being Star Wars: Outlaws.

There’s a lot to see in the new trailer, which features over 12 minutes of gameplay. First, there’s some exploration of Fukuchiyama’s countryside and city center, and then Yasuke (the samurai) gets into battle with a bandit who warns him off. Next, we see a cutscene between Naoe (the female, stealthier protagonist) and Yasuke. This transitions nicely into some Naoe Shinobi stealth action, and we get to see all of the darker sides start to emerge. Then, there’s a scene where Naoe runs away, and finally, everything ends with the open-world trailer.

Shadows, previously codenamed Red, debuted last month. The game is set in 16th century Japan and features dual protagonists, each with a different fighting style.
It restores the tower sync mechanic, but Ubisoft promises they’ll go even further, letting players manually survey the surrounding area and take in the splendor of this world. You can expect this world to be roughly the same size as Origins, a notable reduction from Valhalla’s sprawling, multi-nation map.

Assassin’s Creed: Shadow is the first game in the series to be released exclusively on the current generation, and will be released on PC (EGS/Ubi Connect), PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on November 15. While you’ll need an internet connection to activate your copy, the game can be played completely offline afterwards.
